Saletab Brings the iPad 3 to the MENA Region

In case you've been living under a rock when it comes to technology, the iPad 3 is out today.

What's new? It's gone HD with the display, added a 5 megapixel camera, enabled 4G capability, and also embedded a Personal Hotspot feature to allow its internet connection to be shared with 5 other devices. It also runs faster, thanks to a a Tegra 3 processor.

As customers around the world line up to get it, thus far the only local outlet we're aware of that's bringing it to customers in the Middle East, with free shipping in the Gulf and Lebanon, is e-commerce site Saletab.com

"We're been talking to Apple in Canada, in the U.K., and in the U.S. to secure iPads that we are offering today, on the same day it launches everywhere else," says Saletab.com founder Abdulaziz Aljouf. "It's not easy, as we are small compared to giants like BestBuy, but we secured a couple hundred iPads." While they've currently already sold out of the 4G version, they still have a good number of the WiFi version, he says, noting that Saletab will also have more stock in 4-5 days.

Currently the Apple Store UK is showing models shipping after 2-3 weeks, yet Saletab, which offers it for just a bit more than the U.K. Apple Store, promises customers that they will receive it in 5 days at the latest.

"It’s a great time to be a game or app developer," thanks to the display, Aljouf points out. Indeed, in a region where 4G is not supported, the new Retina HD display, which Apple has dubbed "Resolutionary," may be its most immediately compelling feature for casual users.
