How to Protect Your Privacy Once Facebook's Graph Search Goes Live [Report]
Amidst the global and regional concerns about the usage of Facebook's Graph Search, Social Media Exchange (SMEX) has launched a report in Arabic, in cooperation with the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFE), on how users can protect their privacy settings once Facebook's Graph Search feature goes live.
Graph Search is a new feature that will widely expand search on the social network, by allowing users to the content of their friends' Timelines and News Feeds, asking for results like "Restaurants that Friends Like," or "Friends that Live in Paris."
This six-page report in Arabic includes quick and straightforward tips on the changes every user should make to protect both his or her current data and future posts on Facebook.
Using screenshots from the platform and red arrows to make the steps as clear as possible, the report begins with privacy shortcuts and instructions for managing privacy related to albums, pages, and statuses, and continues to reveal advanced settings related to the appearance of Facebook data in search engines.
Generally, Facebook's Graph Search enhanced exposure could be concerning for individuals, but could also be a great boost for companies coming online for the first time in the Middle East. For more on what Graph Search means for users in the Middle East, read here.
