Wamda announces Mix N’ Mentor Beirut with a new format

Kicking off the second half of the Mix N’ Mentor Roadshow 2013, Wamda next heads to Beirut to continue our tour across the Middle East and North Africa. So far this year, we’ve hosted successful, fun events in Cairo, Doha, Manama, Amman, Riyadh and Casablanca.

Mix N’ Mentor Beirut will take place on October 12, 2013.

With a new and revamped format, based on feedback from previous Mix N’ Mentors, our Beirut MnM will be a one day event bringing together rising entrepreneurs and expert mentors to workshop many of the key challenges founders face when scaling their startups.

Like our other events, this Mix n' Mentor will offer attendees a chance to candidly discuss ideas and individual challenges with peers and regional leaders they might not meet elsewhere. Early stage startups will have a chance to learn from the founders of growth stage startups and established experts, in a fun, casual setting at La Magnanerie, an old silk factory in the suburbs of Beirut. Expert mentors will include Fadi Ghandour, Roy Haddad, Samih Toukan, Sohrab Jahanbani, and many others.

What Mix N’ Mentor is not, is a typical conference. Join us, our community partner Endeavor Lebanon, and the Beirut startup ecosystem, for a unique experience designed to bring your startup to the next level.

The new format

After debuting the first MnM event in Amman in June 2012, and hosting over 10 events since, we have revamped the format to bring an even more engaging experience for both entrepreneurs and mentors alike. Here are some of the latest additions to the Mix N’ Mentor format:

  • 1-on-1 mentorship for growth stage entrepreneurs. Growth stage entrepreneurs who have already proven their business model and moved into the scaling phase may have the chance to participate in this a 1-on-1 session.
  • Gamified group mentorship sessions. During group mentorship sessions, each of the 6 entrepreneurs in each session will get exactly 5 minutes to discuss their particular challenge within a specific topic (ie, fundraising, team-building, or customer development). During that time, every attendee may participate but only in addressing the problem of the entrepreneur who has the floor.
  • Each roundtable session will spend the last 20 minutes discussing the “most-heated” subtopic or a particular challenge discussed during the session.
  • Mini-workshops are now officially part of the event, and are open to anyone who would like to attend. They will cover a range of topics specific to each event.
