New startups on the block: May

Startups are launching faster than we can write about them, so here’s our list of raw newbies to watch.

Dynogroin
Qatar
Healthcare
Yay, a medical device. This product is still in prototyping phase but they are looking to target Europe, US and Australia. It is a device that tests the strength of the inner thigh muscles, specifically to be used by athletes. They were part of the Qatar Science and Technology Park’s XLR8’s program.

Godayuse

Ecommerce/tourism
A new platform that shows users what they can get up to in a selected city - where to go, how to get their and expected costs. It’s soon to be available in Arabic and is available for Egypt and UAE cities, with Singapore, Qatar and the US, apparently coming soon.

Gurfati.com
Saudi Arabia
Ecommerce/tourism
They say that since February (they launched in January) they’ve had more than 1,000 downloads of their app that connects users to available furnished apartments. They have 600 properties listed so far and are looking to have 3,000 by 2018. They haven’t sought investment yet but they are looking to scale to UAE and Bahrain by July.

Spoonstream
Lebanon
F&B
A software for restaurants that allows them to manage reservations, orders, editing of menus and advertising to customers. Joining what seems like a slew of restaurant and ordering apps at the moment these guys are new in Lebanon and hope to enter UAE soon.

Rankdit
UAE
Social media
A regional rival for Snapchat and Instagram? This video sharing app has nearly 2,000 users from six countries, including the US. Beta launched in November 2016 and they are shopping around for investment. In the meantime they’ll be launching an AR element.

Voxera
Egypt
Telecomms/travel
Voxera is a phone-sized device that enables you to stay connected to your SIM card worldwide without any roaming fees. Genius. A combination of a smart device and an app this will apparently kill those heinous roaming charges for when you travel. They recently raised over $72,000 on Kickstarter.
