Cairo-based software as a service (SaaS) startup Garment IO, has raised a $450,000 seed round from Egypt Ventures and 500 Startups.

Founded by Mahmoud Sabae and Ahmed Nounou in 2017, Garment IO helps garment factories streamline their business processes, track production progress and ultimately support their business growth.

The seed funding will be put towards improving the company’s internal capabilities in terms of operations and enhancing its product in terms of reliability and user experience, with further plans to expand regionally in Tunisia, Morocco, Jordan and Turkey.

“Most startups that work in manufacturing mainly focus on deploying advanced technologies such as machines and robots; however, we are more concerned with working with the existing infrastructure of the garment factories to make it more productive and more efficient,” said Nounou, chief executive officer (CEO) and co-founder of Garment IO.

The SaaS platform provides better visibility into the whole ecosystem’s data, resulting in real-time more accurate decision-‎making. Currently, Garment IO has a network of 2000 smart terminals serving factories across Cairo and Alexandria.
